Abstract. This review addresses the current knowledge on phytotoxic roles of tenuazonic acid and its biosynthesis in Alternaria. We examine recent advances this toxin produced by A. alternata other fungi; pathogenicity mechanisms that molecule displays to exert bioherbicidal activity; risks for human animal health involved using versus a native mix toxins alternata. Finally, we discuss potential use fungal isolates agricultural weed control. Resumen. Esta revisión aborda el estado del arte en conocimiento acerca de los mecanismos fitotoxicidad ácido tenuazónico y su biosíntesis Se examinan avances más recientes la esta toxina producida por otros hongos; patogenicidad que molécula emplea para ejercer actividad bioherbicida; así como riesgos salud humana involucrados uso comparado una mezcla las toxinas producidas Finalmente, se discute potencial aislados fúngicos control malezas agricultura.
